The'55 Chevy Bel Air's perfect combination of power and style is what makes it one of the most highly sought after classic cars of today. Also produced was what they called a Utility Coupe which featured a bench in the back rather than a regular seat for salesmen who needed to carry samples and deliver items. It was installed across the lower region of the car's dash, and also made up the horn ring on the Bel Air's premium steering wheel. In fact the Ford Motor Company out sold Chevy that year for the first time in over 20 years. Bel Air Parts It was primarily found on Chevrolet models in the 1950s through the beginning of the 1970s. Air conditioning was still considered an unnecessary luxury by most and Fuel Injection was so new that most garages simply did not know how to fix the system. There were several body styles available for the 1957 model year, most of which had an option of the Bel Air trim package. The Turboglide ceased production less than 4 years later While we think of this car as perhaps the most famous in American history the buying public at the time was not equally impressed. Bel Air Parts Imagine how close we were to never seeing this model! The 1957 Chevrolet came in three different main trim packages. There are just a handful of classic cars that just about anyone will immediately recognize and the 1957 Chevy Bel Air is one of them.
The type of engine the car had depended on the transmission. It is also one of the most recognizable cars that ever rolled out of an American factory. Bel Air Parts The '54 Chevys were available in a convertible, hardtop coupe or 2 and 4-door sedan models. Production problems and setbacks caused them to use the 1955 model design as a base one more time. In 1954, the Chevy Bel Air was fitted with a V8 engine, and earned the reputation as the "The Hot One" among car enthusiasts. The 210 package was a mid-line offering with the 150 package rounding out the line as a base offering. Bel Air Parts The Chevy Bel Airs produced between the years of 1955 and 1957 are regarded as the TriFive, because of their superiority in design and performance over the models that rolled out in the following years of production,which were often times seen as being over sized, and over decorated. The Powerglide transmission was a two speed automatic transmission designed by General Motors. The standard Chevy two and four door sedans were offered as well as a two door and four door Hardtop. It was in these early models that the unique characteristics of the car's body appeared.
Bel Air Parts The interiors were also fitted with their fair share of chrome accents. The '55 Chevy's combination of roomy interior, tasteful design and power are what makes it so popular among enthusiasts. Air Conditioning and Fuel Injection are perhaps the most notable two of them all however very few were sold. The gold Bel Air script that was present on the '55 also helped to distinguish it from the others. Bel Air Parts Unfortunately this tranny had a bad reputation from the start and the vast majority of buyers avoided it. From the classic tail fins to the hooded headlights this model is as much an American icon as parades and apple pie. They received a strip of chrome molding, with a stripe of paint that coordinated with the color of the body. Station wagons were also popular at the time and Chevy offered two variations in '57. Bel Air Parts While sales are decent they fell short of expectations. The 265 cubic-inch V8 engine's overhead valve high-compression and short stroke design worked so well that it stayed in production for many years to follow.
